What Haltane smells like

Haltane starts almost like a classic fougere: bergamot, lavender and clary sage, clean and aromatic. The turn comes in the heart, where saffron and cedarwood introduce the oud and a praline accord cuts across it. That praline is the whole idea — it takes the medicinal, slightly bitter edge off agarwood and makes it read gourmand and rounded instead. Natural agarwood, leather and patchouli then carry the base, so the last hours are unmistakably oud without ever becoming harsh.

Top notes are Bergamot, Lavender and Clary Sage; the heart is Saffron, Cedarwood, Praline and Oud Wood; the base settles on Patchouli, Vetiver, Musk, Leather and Natural Agarwood.

When to wear it

An evening and occasion fragrance, at its best in cool weather. In the Egyptian market it sits naturally alongside traditional oud, but with a sweeter, more Western structure. It is at its best in winter and autumn, it is a harder wear in summer.
