Why Cuban reads heavier than it is

A Cuban (curb) link is flattened and interlocked so the links lie flush against each other and against the skin. That gives an unbroken, solid-looking band rather than a chain of visible gaps — which is exactly why Cuban is the style people mean when they say a chain looks expensive.
