What Le Male Elixir smells like

The mint and lavender that define Le Male are still there, but they burn off quickly. What is left is the reason this exists: a thick honey accord sitting on tonka bean and tobacco, with vanilla and benzoin filling the space between. Benzoin is the material doing the quiet work, giving the honey a balsamic, resinous depth so it reads rich rather than sugary. In Parfum concentration it is dense, sits close to the skin for the first hour, then blooms.

Top notes are Lavender and Mint; the heart is Vanilla and Benzoin; the base settles on Honey, Tonka Bean and Tobacco.

When to wear it

Cold-weather and night-time only. It is emphatically too sweet and too heavy for an Egyptian summer day, and genuinely excellent on a winter evening. It is at its best in winter and autumn, it is a harder wear in summer.
